Girdwood Alaska Backpackers Inn is located in Girdwood, Alaska, just 36 miles south of Anchorage and 90 miles north of Seward and the Kenai Peninsula.
Arriving by Car
Take the Seward Highway to Girdwood at mile marker 90. Turn at the Tesoro gas station onto the Alyeska Highway. Pull into the Tesoro Gas Station Mall on the right hand side and drive to the back of the mall parking lot by Coast Pizza. Continue straight past Coast Pizza and you will see a Gold Avenue Street sign. Turn right on Gold Avenue and follow until the end of the road. Hostel is the last house on the left hand side.

The Alyeska Ski Bus
During ski season, the Alyeska Hotel offers shuttle service between Anchorage and Girdwood. Times and dates vary so check out their website for more information on dates, times, pick-up locations, and price.
Arriving by Public Transit/Bike
Seward Bus Lines, Girdwood Shuttle, Alaska Transportation Group, and Stage Line offer bus service from Anchorage, Homer and Seward to Girdwood. Buses conveniently stop at Tesoro Station Mall.
Alaska Railroad offers daily service to Girdwood from Anchorage, Seward, Whittier or Portage until September 15, 2009. Toss your bike on the train for an additional $20. 1-800-544-0552

Rental options include high end road bikes and clip-in pedals and shoes, also a free lock, helmet, map, panniers & repair kit. Besides your transportation to Girdwood, you’ll also be set to ride Girdwood’s many bike paths.
